Up ‘Til Dawn Sunday, August 26, 6-8pm Free Show
Up ‘Til Dawn has been jamming for many years with a number of Salt Lake City’s best local acoustic musicians, taking advantage of those magical hours just before the dawn to blend their music into a rich mix of varied genres. Band members are Steve Lutz on dobro and lead guitar, Eddie Valdez on lead vocals and guitar, Caroline Kueneman on vocals and bass, and Bruce Berglund on Cajun box drum. The band plays covers of an eclectic range of tunes – instantly recognizable favorites by artists such as Paul Simon, John Prine, Buddy Holly, James Taylor, the Grateful Dead, and the Beatles. They can turn on a dime to render soulful interpretations of amazing artists like Leonard Cohen, bob Dylan, Tom Waits and Gillian Welch. And just when you might have them pegged as a pop tunes band, they lay down some beautiful harmonies on such traditional folk and bluegrass numbers as “Long Black Veil”, “Babylon,” and “Dark as a Dungeon.” Some of the band’s most evocative sounds are original songs written by band members or local singer/songwriters.
